Active Noise Reduction Headsets (ANR) uses advance noise reduction technology using an electronic signal in the earcup to cancel out certain background noises. As a result, the wearer will have a more quiet overall listening experience. In most cases, this type of headset uses a microphone to interpret incoming noise and broadcasts an opposite audio signal, which cancels out certain continuous sound waves like wind or pistons. Therefore, the headset provides a more quiet experience for the pilot.
